April flowers

It has been a long winter. Spring has been somewhat shy this year - advancing and retreating. At long last the flowers, shrubs and trees are blooming and the birds are building nests.

This is what I saw on my walk today.

The daffodils are past but the tulips are just coming to full bloom. The sun was shining and just that right amount of spring coolness in the air. Too warm for a winter coat but perfect for a heavy cardigan.

The ducks and geese have been returning from their winter locations. They are attracted to the many area retention ponds. The fountains and small waterfalls are designed to please the eye but also attract the various waterfowl. It won't be long before we see the ducklings and goslings and their hesitating trips in public.

This is a time when the unexpected makes me smile in the delight of small wonders.
