I have amazed myself by knitting 3 shawls this year (so far). I finally have photos of the Mini Mochi shawl recently completed. This cheerful, soft, and very light shawl is the one I tend to carry around (chilly restaurants, etc.).
But more amazing is the minature knitting done by artist Althea Crome. You can view her amazing collection at http://www.bugknits.com/ and watch a short YouTube video about knitting for the movie Coraline. A local library sponsored her as a speaker and she was very interesting and most generous sharing her growth and design experiences as a knitter. Did you noticed the lovely sweater she is wearing in the video? At the library event she described her early knitting normal sized items like the Alice Starmore sweater from the Tudor Roses collection which she is wearing in the video. She began knitting smaller items later and now many of her items are in museums. The knitting is a part-time activity since she is a a respiratory therapist and a mother of 4.
In case you were wondering, she knits using surgical wire and uses thread (usually silk, but the Coraline sweater was made using a holographic thread).
